Alliance OneAlliance One is a debt collection agency.
If they've contacted you, we've got information that can help.
One of the most debilitating conditions known to man is being in debt.
It will rob you of your future, it will destroy your ability to succeed, and it will put you in a position of servitude.
An ancient proverb says that the borrower is servant to the lender, and that is certainly true in the case of debtors.
Whether you have credit debt, mortgage debt, or student loans, you need to do your utmost to gain freedom from your debt.
Being in debt can consume your thoughts and distract you from the important things in life - your family, friends, career, and plans for the future.
Junk Debt BuyersOne thing you should be aware of is Junk Debt. What exactly is junk debt and why would anybody want to buy your old debt?
Certain types of bills (like credit card debts) will eventually fall under the statute of limitations if your bill goes unpaid. That just means that if your debt is unpaid for, say, seven years, it becomes void.
This is not meant to encourage you to let your bills go unpaid, and it's not a good idea if you want a decent credit score.
The basic idea behind JDB (Junk Debt Buyers) is that they purchase your old debt from your bank or credit agency for a fraction of the original debt.
They will then begin contacting you to try to get you to pay off a debt (that has expired). If you make a payment, it will reactivate the debt, as it were.
Now you have another seven years before it will expire under the statute of limitations.
If you have credit debt, it is important that you do your research and understand the law as it applies to your debt.
Alliance OneOne example of a JDB is a company called Alliance One.
This company advertises itself as a collection agency with outsourcing and call center services.
Their website claims over 85,000 employees with 15 near or off-shore locations and 75,000 work stations.
They also have a healthcare division, custom solutions programs, a government collection division, and of course the collection service.
Junk Debt Buyers are commonly referred to as "bottom feeders" and can take a harassing tone when attempting to collect on past due accounts.
Alliance One is actually included on website lists of "worst junk debt buyers" and according to one credit restoration blog, has had 26 lawsuits filed against them.
Many, many websites are devoted to complaints about JDB's - usually their lack of information and documentation on accounts, their harassing phone calls, and unwillingness to respond to legal correspondence from consumers attempting to put a stop to the calls.
Unfortunately, Alliance One is one of the JDB's that people have complained about all over the internet.
Avoiding Junk Debt BuyersThe best way to protect yourself from JDB's is simply to pay your bills, and preferably on time.
